Corn Stand Updates on Saturday, July 28th

Thank you to all of our Golden Sweet Corn fans - we had an incredible weekend at both of our stands! So much so that the corn patch needs a little time to catch up.

The Komoka stand will be closed on Sunday through........until further notice.  Stay tuned - we will be open prior to the long-weekend, so don't despair.

The Strathroy stand will be open tomorrow (Sunday) and then off for a few days as well.

If you have a large order you wish to have filled for the coming weekend (Thursday onwards), please contact us at 519 264 9493 and leave a message after 7 rings.  Please ensure you let us have your name, phone number, quantity, date and time of the pick-up.  Don't forget to mention which stand you want to pick it up at.

In the meantime, Joc's veggies will be available up at the barn.....just drive up the laneway, past the house, and he and his crew will be happy to serve you.

We'll be back soon!

Please feel free to post any comments you may have.........

What an Amazing Weekend!

Thank you to everyone who visited us this weekend....and apologies to those who did not get their fill!

We will be at our Komoka stand every day at 9am and as the corn is ripening with this lovely hot weather and warmer nights, we will be open much later than we were on the weekend.

Our Strathroy stand will be opening tomorrow morning at 10am.  For those Strathroy patrons, our hours are:

Monday through Thursday - 10am 'til close (usually 5-6pm)
Friday through Sunday - 9am 'til close

Come see us tomorrow - we will be back with our lovely Golden Sweet Corn - Voted Best Local Corn as well as local veggies (grown by Joc) and watermelons from our Mt-Brydges grower.

Bring On the Heat!

Golden Sweet Corn loves heat - the last few chillier nights, though we humans love them, slow down the ripening of the corn........apologies to those of you who missed out on our corn yesterday as we had a limited supply.  Today should be a better day, but then, it's a Saturday and if you've ever visited the stand on a Saturday, you will know that the stand is a zoo and the corn and veggies are just flying off the stand!

On the veggie side of things, Joc's home-grown cukes, dills, zucchinis, peas, beans (yellow and green), and even his own hot house tomatoes.  Field tomatoes are ripening and should be available soon.  Don't miss the chance to pick up some of his amazing garlic and beets too!  All grown on the Komoka farm.  We are also featuring peppers from Union and local blueberries.  For those of you who have been looking for potatoes, those should be returning to our stand in the coming days......

We have to thank all of you who have visited the stand.....it's wonderful to see smiling familiar faces as well as meet new folks who stop by.  We love hearing how happy you are that our fresh corn and produce is back.......if you are reading this, why not leave us a note here and share your thoughts with our other readers!?

Here's to a great season!

Strathroy Stand - Opening Monday / Komoka - Business as Usual!

Quality does take time!

Due to an overwhelming demand at our Komoka stand this week and the cooler nights the past few days, we will be delaying opening our Strathroy stand as the corn is just not quite ready and we won't sell it until it's perfect!

Strathroy will open:  Monday, July 23rd, at 10am!

Komoka:  business as usual - open from 9am until we sell out, daily.

Come experience the best corn you have ever tried!

We also have Joc's fresh seasonal veggies which are flying off the stand......

We have to say, there are an awful lot of smiling faces at the stand in Komoka - everyone is so happy to see us back again!  Thank you!!!!!  It's our pleasure to serve you.

Day 3 and All is Well!

Good morning corn lovers!

Golden Sweet Corn loves the heat!  But with this kind of heat, the corn needs water.  Did you know that to irrigate properly, farmers irrigate at night to avoid wind, and mostly to avoid evaporation.  That means that Tony has been up a lot of nights this year irrigating, while doing his regular farm work during the day.  A big thank you to you Tony!

If you ever saw a bumper sticker that says "Hug a Farmer" - now you know one of the reasons - local farmers go above and beyond to ensure quality in what they produce.

When you come by the stand, take a minute to thank our Corn Girls who are working through this extreme heat with a smile on their faces :)

So just a reminder:

Komoka is open daily from 9am featuring Tony's tender Golden Sweet Corn and Joc's fresh veggies.

Strathroy will be opening at 9am on Friday

Hope to see you at one of our stands this weekend!

Corn Season is ON!

Ready corn lovers?

Golden Sweet Corn is ready!  We are opening our Komoka stand tomorrow morning at 9am!

Strathroy will open on Friday.....

Did you know that Golden Sweet Corn makes an awesome snack?  Try it raw....you'll be amazed.  Of course if you love melted butter on it......please feel free to cook it, but be careful not to cook it too long.  Laura's favourite way is to put it straight into a large pot of boiling water and take it out as soon as the water comes back to the boiling point.  Yum!

Are You Ready? We Are!

We will be opening our corn and veggie stand in Komoka on Monday, July 16th, at 9am......and will be featuring GoldenSweet right from the start!  Joc will be joining us with his usual season veggies as they become available.

Our Strathroy stand will open on Friday, July 20th, at 9am........

Our returning Corn Girls are very excited to be starting work again, bringing you the bounty of the season!  Come by and say hi and meet some of our new faces.

We look forward to welcoming you back!
